A new concept from GI Founder President Sichendra Bista. Reliefware is a replacement to the freeware, shareware and careware concepts in software industry. "I do not see any reason to give away software free to the affluent class who can own a computer and don't want to raise small expenditures on something which cost the other party his blood, brain, sweat and soul! Instead, the programmers can market their software as reliefware. A single dollar revenue from it could bring miracles in the lives of millions of underprivileged and deprived people", he opines,"whereas shareware, sincerely speaking, is almost a flop concept".
Reliefware is the modified freeware or careware where every person who receives the copy of the software has to pay only a dollar to The Reliefware Foundation (proposed) which will be utilized for the grassroots projects that directly benefits people-at-large under the Global Initiatives for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Action (GI). The programmer(s) who donates reliefware (previously freeware or careware) to the proposed Foundation would be honored in public once a year.
